The Two-State Solution is Dead. Time for its Funeral.
Letting Go of the Past, and Looking Towards the Future
As G-d exclaimed to the Prophet Isaiah, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past."
It was nice while it lasted, that dream of peace, co-existence, and two States living side by side. If not in harmony, at least in tolerance of the other.
It's time to admit that it's not going to happen. Not now, and not ten years from now. Not thirty years from now. Even if a palestinian state is created, it will only be the harbinger of nightmares and a far bloodier chapter in this conflict than we've ever seen, nothing else.
The peace process was murdered. The three culprits stand behind its corpse, still engaging in a sinister game of puppetry; they are playing for the world a macabre passion play and cashing in on it. They are:
The UN. The EU. The US.
They closed their eyes to the incitement and armament flowing in. They allowed corruption to fester and for terror to grow. They rewarded tantrums, and they rewarded bloodshed. They gave in to the worse impulses and diktats of the dictators and autocrats of the Middle East who claimed everything was the fault of the Jews and used it as a bargaining chip to amass personal fortunes.
Arafat was worth billions at the time of his death. The heads of Hamas are worth billions today, their head henchmen hundred millionaires. A billion-dollar industry has been built on the back of "palestinian liberation," a sure grift guaranteed to be profitable.
As a result of the placating, cajoling, and enabling of the peace process's assassins, we are now faced with a population needing literal de-Nazification.
Facts on the Ground
The Palestine Center for Policy and Survey Research published their latest Joint Poll [link] between Israel and their Arab neighbors. The results are appalling; they are also entirely predictable.
Let us look at the results:
33% support a Two State Solution. [henceforth: TSS] 47% support for a State over the entire land devoid of all Jews* 61% of Hamas supporters prefer the expulsion of all Jews. 20% of Hamas supporters prefer a state where Jews are dhimmis.
More than half of Palestinians desire a state devoid of Jews or where Jews are allowed to live as dhimmis under Islamic law. Not that the 33% accurately depicts their views regarding the TSS. Of that 33%, a strong to overwhelming majority also desire the Right of Return [henceforth ROR] to be part of a TSS, which would effectively flood Israel with millions of "refugees" and democratically turn Israel into an Arab State overnight.
81% of Hamas voters want nothing to do with Jews having their own State. Let's not forget that the only reason Hamas is not in power in Judea and Samaria is that the International Community and the Israeli Government are propping the PA of Mahmoud Abbas. If fair elections were to be held or Hamas allowed to operate, Hamas would soon be in control of Judea and Samaria as sure as they are in Gaza.
Things are not much better in Israel proper: Even among Israeli Arabs, nearly a third support expulsion of Jews and the establishment of an exclusively Arab state. It's also imperative to remember that even amongst them, many tie the TSS to the idea of the ROR. Very few Israeli Arabs find it acceptable for the Jewish State to exist as such, whether as part of a TSS or other partition.
36% of respondents consider that their most important goal is the full right of return of millions of Arabs to Israel, tied with a complete withdrawal of Israeli troops. Only 9% consider democracy their most important goal.
Only 28% would accept, in the case of a TSS, to recognize that Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people (whereas 63% of Jews would recognize a palestinian state as theirs).
It is clear that the overwhelming fixation of the majority of Arabs, whether inside the 1967 lines or outside of it, is for the disappearance of Israel, not the creation of their own independent State. It's about replacement.
*euphemistically referred to as ‘the “other” option’.
Post-State Realities
One of the hardest impediments to a TSS is the location of the future borders. For them, the answers are clear:
Only 16% agree that Israel should have a right to keep its capital as Western Jerusalem while their State makes East Jerusalem its capital. Of those polled, only 16% supported Israel's right to maintain control of the Western Wall and Jewish Quarter while they kept control of the Temple Mount. Merely 24% support Israel keeping the main settlement blocs in exchange for equivalent territory.
Dismantling the main settlement blocs is a pipe dream that even the Far-Left has given up and is only kept alive in the minds of those in the diaspora. Even if you were to say that Israelis would accept dismantling every single settlement in the name of peace, there is simply no way the Israeli public would ever accept vacating the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem, giving over the Western Wall, and not having Israel's capital in Jerusalem. Giving up Jerusalem? It would simply never happen willingly.
Amongst Arab, there is a far-reaching consensus as far as what they want and just as high a consensus as far as what Jews don't want.
Still, let's say that a State was created. What would be its purpose?
Only 13% of respondents agreed with the idea of a demilitarized State. Only 20% approve of full sovereignty over their own air space, land, and water resources in exchange for two early warning states in Judea & Samaria for 15 years. 40% say their preference is to wage an armed struggle against Israel.
Even if a State is created, it will not be for them to live their own lives in control of their destiny as neighbors in the brotherhood of nations. It will be to arm themselves and get ready for the next phase of their plan: to wage total war on Israel and take all of the territories back. The reason for that is:
60% of them believe that the conflict began before the 1948 war.
There goes the lie that the conflict is simply about the Green Line or the settlements. This sort of Trojan horse strategy is precisely how Arafat defended the idea of even negotiating a TSS. While celebrating the Oslo Treaty on the White House Lawn, tapes were playing on Arabic radio stations where Arafat was announcing to the Arab world that he was not a sellout, that he was not giving the fight, and reminded them that Mohammed himself was forced to agree to the Pact of Hudaybiyyah with the residents of Mecca until he was strong enough to seek a pretext and murder them all.
It's not about the 1967 borders. It's about the entire land. This is what they are instructed from their earliest childhood, and they are constantly propagandized with this drivel on a daily basis as the world cheers on and pours in billions to keep it going.
A Broken Psyche
The entire population has been brainwashed, and nothing short of a de-Nazification program over decades will be able to turn the tide. The facts are terrifying:
22% of them support the normalization of the relationship with Israel 20% would agree to participate in workshops bringing Jews and Arabs together. 61% believe there is no one to make peace with on the Israeli side. 86% believe that Jews are untrustworthy. 93% say that the land does not belong to the Jews.
The antisemitic propaganda goes hand-in-hand with the nationalistic propaganda they are fed. It's not Antizionism; it's antisemitism. It is not "Israelis" they consider untrustworthy; it's Jews. Who can blame them for holding such views when they are so indoctrinated that:
84% of them believe that their suffering is unique throughout history 90% believe it's their moral right to do anything to survive.
They are told that Jews are not only untrustworthy but truly worse than Nazis, that the land doesn't belong to them, that this conflict has been going on for over a century, that no one has ever suffered as much as they have, and that their only path to victory is the total annihilation of the other.
This is their mother's milk. An entire childhood where these things are repeated over and over as the world cheers on and Westerners egg them on.
Speaking of childhood indoctrination:
The Guilty Parties
All of this can directly be linked to the three bad actors I mentioned earlier.
Soon after the massacre of seven Jews exiting synagogue a couple of weeks ago, the US announced through Secretary Blinken that they would send an additional $50m to UNRWA schools. Those are schools notorious for their incitement to violence and support of terrorism.
It is not simply UNRWA institutions but all their institutions. Yesterday, Yisrael Medad (@ymedad) posted a video on Twitter of young schoolchildren taking part in a mock kidnapping and murdering of Israelis at their kindergarten. Not yet in school, and already being taught the glories of murdering Jews and dying as a martyr.
If an Israeli school discussed setting up a play where children kidnap Arabs and kill them, it would end up being the subject of an emergency session of the UN Security Council, a General Assembly resolution condemning it, and every politician in the Western World tripping over each other to be the first one to condemn Israel.
Rightfully so, as well.
Those are daily occurrences in Gaza, Judea, and Samaria, yet the West and the UN entirely ignore them. It's not enough to say they are ignored, as they usually happen in UN or US/EU-funded schools. They are complicit in raising those children to hate, want to murder as many Jews as possible, and die as martyrs.
Is it any wonder, then, that four of the last six major Palestinian terror attacks in Jerusalem were perpetrated by minors?
To have any future chance for peace between Arabs and Jews in the Middle East, there need to be drastic societal changes. To claim that Israel is at fault for defending itself while turning a blind eye to what is happening in Arab schools is only going to lead to a bloodier and bloodier conflict with no end in sight.
Time to let go of the past, embrace reality, and start working on making peace possible. And it begins with Arabs teaching their children to value life, embrace peace, and reject those who would turn them into weapons as they sit in their mansions paid by their UN, EU, and US accomplices.
